My name is Corry Angwar. I live in Melbourne, Victoria.
I suffer from Lupus since 2015. This diagnosis has turned my life around and pushed me in the direction of who I am meant to be. Throughout my journey with Lupus, I discover that any form of suppression leads to more sickness. The more I hold back on not expressing myself, whether in spoken words, paintings or movement, the quicker my body wilted. This discovery has led me to paint with my Inner Child. I let her own her own stage on the blank page, I let her choose all the colours and materials, I let her make the strokes and shapes.
The Innocence has so much wisdom that we rarely allow ourselves to listen. In painting these, I allow myself to drop into the quiet stillness so that I could translate the energy and vision of my inner child onto paper. After each painting has finished, words will arrive, infusing a message to complete the work. Each work is imbued with a poetic prayer that serve as contemplative reminder (handwritten at the back of the artwork).
Through my paintings, I explore nature, mystery, mysticism and the inner life. |
