ARTIST BIO

Although new to exhibiting Monica has painted regularly for most of her life, she grew up in a family where drawing and painting was the norm . She has always had a love of animals, so most of her paintings are of wildlife or peoples pets. Monica studied tonal realism with Graham Moore & Barbara McCallum, a treasured part of her life. She also studied Wildlife Art with Kristii Millaine and landscape with Kevin Boucher, but animal and wildlife are Monica's first loves, though in recent years,at the request of friends, Monica has enjoyed, very successfully, painting portraits from photographs.. She works mainly in oils but in recent times has enjoyed learning Scratchoard, some of which she will add colour to with inks or acrylics. She is also a member of The International Society of Scratchboard Artists. Originally from England Monica lives in the beautiful Yarra Valley with her husband, she is very involved with the local community and does volunteer work at the local Opportunity shop along with enjoying her garden and all the wildlife in the area.

Monica & her husband have recently decided to make a sea change and have now moved to Wonthaggi, a bustling country town in the South Gippsland area of Victoria. Although feeling sad at leaving behind all the beauties of the Yarra Valley and dear friends, she is looking forward to enjoying all that Wonthaggi has to offer, a quiter lifestyle , a gentler, but lovely landscape & meeting and making new friends, last but not least, enjoying a thriving art community
