Paul has made a 47 year career as an artist painting professionally in the tradition of tonal impressionism, mostly in oil.
Known for his paintings of flowers and still life, Paul’s work includes landscape, portrait and figure painting. His work has won over 100 major awards including the ‘VAS Artist of the Year Award’ in 2001, the ‘Norman Kaye Medal’ 1998 &1999 and many others.
Exhibiting since1974, he has held 6 major solo exhibitions. Paul conducted adult painting classes and workshops (1977-2023), and has judged countless art competitions throughout 5 States of Australia since 1982.
Immediate past President of the Twenty Melbourne Painters Society Inc. he is also past President, Hon Life Member and Fellow of the Victorian Artist Society. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London 1999, he has been appointed honorary member of the Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group (past president), the Hobson’s Bay Art Society, Life member Box Hill Art Group and appointed Victorian representative of the Royal Art Society of NSW.
In 2005 Paul was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to the visual arts as a painter and lecturer.
